Yoga for Back Pain is a practice for relieving pain from Musculoskeletal & Neurological conditions.

Yoga for Back Pain uses proven yoga postures to relieve discomfort and pain from various back conditions. Studied extensively by Dr. Loren Fishman, MD., these postures target neurological, musculoskeletal and mixed conditions associated with chronic or episodic back pain. Upon documenting favorable results from numerous patients seen in his Manhattan office, Dr. Fishman published a book called Healing Yoga in January 2015, which detailed his treatment method. To date, Dr. Fishman continues to train yoga instructors in his specialized method, as well as study additional postures and conduct long term studies.

Students will be evaluated by the instructor and taught simple, yet effective yoga postures to practice daily, in order to  relieve back pain. Students are encouraged to bring their MRI results or any medical diagnostic reports.

about your instructor

Masha Leuner holds a B.A./M.A. from Brandeis University,  and M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business and was a career driven marketer in New York City area for years. In 2017, she began her advanced studies in Yoga for Osteoporosis with Dr. Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall, and has been teaching Yoga for Bone Health in public and private formats ever since. Following Dr. Fishman’s legacy of transforming yoga asana into a healing practice, Masha completed her Yoga for Back Pain training with Dr. Fishman and Gabriella Barnstone at Kripalu in 2019. Masha is excited to bring this knowledge to the Boston community as one of the first registered Yoga for Back Pain teachers in the area. 

Masha teaches all levels, regardless of ability, age or medical condition.
